
Germán Huanca Flores sscc was ordained by Archbishop Pedro Barreto Jimeno SJ, Metropolitan of Huancayo, accompanied by Bishop Carlos Salcedo, auxiliary bishop in the church parish of Muquiyauyo, San Miguel Archangel Huaripampa in the province of Jauja of the Junin region, on Sunday October 23, 2016. He was accompanied by priests of the Archdiocese, his mother Francisca Flores Quispe and his brothers Hannibal and Aureliano Jacinto and his religious family of the Sacred Hearts: religious and a representative of the Secular Branch.
His pastoral co-workers filled the church and parishioners. A representation of the towns were present headed by Mr. Ivan Soto and Mr. Pedro Astovilca mayors of the districts Huaripampa and Muquiyauyo respectively. The presence of St. John the Baptist Evangelical Church of Paqcha gave a note of Christian fraternity. Also present were delegations from the church communities of the Recoleta Plaza Francia (Lima), Villa el Salvador, Foothills Christian community of Chillon and the parish of Our Lady of Peace.
The ceremony concluded with a party, as is customary in these villages. Buoyed by a typical orchestra, a special program was presented. Then, those present shared a tasty pachamanca jaujina y chicha. The feast featured open dancing and the ending came with a traditional “Palpa” in which friends offer gifts to the brand new priest to the sound of music and dancing.
