Ordination to the Diaconate of Vanildo Lima (Brazil)

On 10th November, at the Shrine of Health and Peace (Belo Horizonte), the ordination to the diaconate of Vanildo Lima Sena sscc took place, with the laying on of hands by Monsignor Aloísio Jorge Pena Vitral, bishop emeritus of Sete Lagoas . Also attending were the parents of the new deacon, several brothers and sisters of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts, friends and a large number of parishioners; as well as members of the religious and consecrated life of the city.

The ordination had, in addition,  the presence of three other bishops, Dom Roque Costa Souza and Dom Stanislaw Blaszczyk (auxiliary bishops of the archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro) and Dom Walter Jorge Pinto (bishop of the diocese of União da Vitória).

During the celebration, in his homily, Bishop Aloysius gave advice and guidance for the diaconal life that Vanildo is to live. In his words he stressed that "the greatest wealth is to be unfinished, for when we feel too full, vanity enters us, which is the mother of all vices. Therefore, my dear Brother Vanildo, preserve that simplicity you carry and that view, because it's revealing."

An emotional moment of the ceremony was during the imposition of the diaconal vestments, when Fr. Rafael Azanza sscc, imposed the diaconal stole on him.

At the end of the celebration, Deacon Vanildo expressed his gratitude to all those present at the ordination, those who had followed him through social media and, especially, those who had been instruments of God to help him discern his vocation, as well as those who had collaborated on his vocational path.
