At noon on September 28, the priesthood ordination of Francisco (Paco) Egea and diaconal ordination of Pablo Márquez took place in the Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Seville, in a celebration presided by Bishop Santiago Gómez Sierra, auxiliary bishop of Seville.
Family members, SSCC brothers and sisters coming from different parts of Spain and Portugal, as well as parishioners from several of our ministries, especially in Málaga and Seville, surrounded the ordinands in a celebration in a packed parish church. Also present in the celebration were Nuria Arias, Provincial Superior of the Sisters, and Enrique Losada, Provincial Superior who presented the ordinands.
In his homily, Archbishop Gómez Sierra reminded them that "the shepherds represent Christ to serve the people", also referred to the vision of the Good Father in the granary of La Motte, and how the religious of the Congregation are essentially missionaries.
After the Eucharist, Paco Egea, speaking for both newly-ordained, thanked God for the gift of vocation and recalled the words of Pope Francis in which both expresses a desire to "be shepherds with the sheep smell ".
The celebration continued later in the courtyard of the Colegio San José SSCC where a meal was served. In the afternoon, there was a tournament of "indoor soccer" in honor of new priest and new deacon.
