Goodbye in the Parish of Santo Emídio (Brazil)

On February 18th, the Congregation ended its pastoral service in the Parish of Santo Emídio (São Paulo), which it had accompanied since its foundation in 1939. Therefore it brings to an end 84 years of service to the people of God. The SSCC religious played an enormous role in the development of the neighborhood: they created the Círculo de Trabajadores Cristianos (Christian Workers Circle) today the Círculo de Obreros (Workers Circle), the Juan XXIII School, the A. C. Digilio Nursery, among other works.

The parish church was packed with the faithful who came to thank God for the dedication of the Congregation to the Parish. Before beginning the Eucharist, civil authorities were able to honour the Congregation for its services to the neighbourhood. The president of the workers' circle, Newton Zadra, spoke a few words of gratitude to the religious for their excellent social work.

The Eucharist was presided over by Edmar Aparecido de Oliveira sscc, accompanied by the brothers of the Congregation, Osvânio Humberto Mariano sscc (Provincial), Ricardo Gomes da Silva sscc and Edvaldo Carneiro sscc, as well as the postulants and religious linked to the parish community.

After the celebration, the parish community said an emotional farewell to Edmar Aparecido, who will assume the rectorship of the Sanctuary of Health and Peace. The farewell took place in the parish hall, where lunch was served to the entire community.
