Parishes of San Isidro, Precious Blood and Guadalupe, Mexico (Brs)


On 10 May Thomas Sukotriraharjo and Fernando Cordero visited the community of San Isidro. They talked with the four SSCC brothers, had a community meeting, celebrated Eucharist in the parish of San Isidro, finishing with a meeting with the parish pastoral council. This day in Mexico is celebrated as Mother's Day. In his homily, Fernando remembered Anne Catherine Wouters, mother of Saint Damien, and the farewell she gave Damien at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Montagu.

From 11-12 May, the visitors met with the five brothers of the Precious Blood community, followed by a community meeting and then a meeting with the pastoral councils of the Precious Blood and Our Lady of Guadalupe. They also celebrating the Eucharist. Later, they visited the church of Our Lady of the Assumption. They met Carlos Enrique Samaniego, auxiliary bishop of Mexico, in charge of consecrated life, with whom they discussed pastoral and missionary renewal, the contribution and challenges of religious life, and the synodal journey. The archdiocese of Mexico has 4000 religious sisters and 600 religious brothers.
