Perpetual Profession (Indonesia)

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the SSCC Congregation of the Indonesia Province rejoiced as two of its brothers—Bro. Ignatius Himawan Sulaksono sscc, and Bro. Alphi Marvick Ilustrisimo Damaso sscc—made their Perpetual Profession in the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (SSCC). The celebration took place at Saint Damien Parish, Batam, during a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Fr. Pankrasius Olak Kraeng sscc, Provincial of the Indonesia Province, and concelebrated by Fr. Michiaki Chihara sscc, Fr. Fransiskus Dedi Riberu sscc, together with twelve other priests from various religious congregations.

In his homily, Fr. Pankrasius emphasized three important points for the faithful: perseverance in prayer, living in communion with Christ, and sharing the healing love of Jesus in the midst of the world. These themes were inspired by the mottos chosen for the perpetual profession of the two brothers, as well as by the readings proclaimed during the Eucharistic celebration. He once again underlined the importance of perseverance in prayer as a response to the current condition of the world and nature, which he described as “not in a good state.” In addition, he highlighted the importance of communion with Christ, as explained by the Apostle Paul in his Letter to the Romans. This communion with Christ is lived out through apostolic works, particularly by sharing in the ministry of healing in the midst of a wounded world and a damaged creation.

Generally, joyful celebrations are marked by festive speeches expressing gratitude for the blessings received. However, this was not the case for the two confreres who made their perpetual vows. In their address, represented by Bro. Himawan, they did not offer a festive speech, but rather a Hymn of Thanksgiving for their vocational journey, along with a prayer offered for all those who had accompanied them along the way and contributed to the successful celebration of their Perpetual Profession.

The celebration was attended by approximately 300 faithful from Saint Damien Parish, Bengkong, as well as from other parishes. Religious brothers and sisters from various congregations were also present and joined in this joyful occasion. The event concluded with a fraternal gathering filled with joy, featuring performances by the children of Saint Damien Parish, Bengkong, SSCC Youth, novice brothers, and a communal dance involving all the faithful in attendance.

Congratulations to Bro. Himawan sscc, and Bro. Marvick sscc. Our prayers are always with you.
