O Lord,
You inflamed the heart
Of your servant Blessed Damien of Molokai,
With a burning love for the Sacred Hearts
Of Jesus and Mary.
You filled him with zeal for Eucharistic Adoration
And for the service to the lepers of Molokai.
He was forgotten among the forgotten,
A leper among lepers.
As you taught him, teach us generously also,
To serve you lovingly,
To give ourselves and to work tirelessly;
Proclaiming your love to all
Without hoping for any return
Other than to be able to contemplate,
Live and proclaim the wonders of your mercy.
We thank you for Blessed Damien’s Beatification
And we pray that you will also be glorified
In him by his Canonization.
