The Region of India was blessed with its 23rd Ordination in this year. Deacon Esthakkiyan Arul Thiyagaraj was ordained a priest at Our Lady of Presentation Church at Perunduraipattu, at his village and parish church on Saturday, 29th July 2017. Right Rev. Soundaraj Periyanayagam, DD, Bishop of the Catholic diocese of Vellore, ordained him.
It was a beautifully orchestrated celebration with music, lights and decorations everywhere with the people of his village, his relatives, other well-wishers and some brothers and sisters from the Congregation. On the next morning, Sunday, 30th July 2017, he celebrated his Thanksgiving Mass at the same Church for his family and parish community.
Bishop Soundaraj spoke about two faces of Jesus, that is, one in God the Father whom we worship and praise and the second is the face of God in humanity. In this way he brought forth the ministry of priesthood as a service to the people with a total commitment.
Fr. Arul Thiyagaraj thanked his family, relatives, and formators for their assistance and support in his vocation journey and urged for the same for his priestly ministry.
