Priestly ordination of Kevin Kupe sscc in Jerez de la Frontera, Iberia (Brs)

On Saturday, May 14, the feast of St. Matthias the Apostle, Kevin Kupe sscc (of the Province of Africa) was ordained priest in the parish of St. Paul, in Jerez de la Frontera. Kevin was assigned to this parish for his pastoral year. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Bishop José Rico Pavés, bishop of the diocese of Asidonia-Jerez. Frs Aurelio Cayón (Provincial of Iberia), along with SSCC brothers from the various places where we are present concelebrated: Madrid, San Fernando, Seville, Torrelavega. Five brothers of the Province of Africa who are in mission in Germany and Rome also joined in Present, too, were the sscc sisters of the community of San Fernando, Kevin's family, especially his father and aunt from Kinshasa, his uncle from the United States, others from Luxembourg and the parish community of Saint Paul's parish.

In his homily, the bishop highlighted joy. This joy finds its source in the hearts of Jesus and Mary. He asks Kevin to share this joy with the people of God because we live in a world where tiredness, routine and troubles make us lose the taste and joy of the Gospel

For his part, Kevin took the floor to thank the Congregation for the whole formation process, especially the Province of Africa and also the Iberian Province for the accompaniment during his international experience in Jerez. In his words, "I ask for spiritual support from all of you. I am aware that I am beginning my ministry in a time in which the Church is living through a context of reform and synodality that requires conversion, discernment and listening on my part,".

After the Eucharistic celebration, all gathered for a celebratory meal at Father Damien house.
