The Province of Chile celebrated its 18th Provincial Chapter from 17 to 21 August. The Final Assembly of the visitation was held the morning of Monday the 17th, and the Chapter began in the afternoon. Both meetings took place in the "House of Prayer" of the Dominican Fathers in Santiago.
There were 24 participants, including Nilo Pinzón, Vice Provincial of Ecuador, representing David de la Torre, the Provincial, who could not attend due to illness. Ecuador is a Vice Province of Chile. Also participating in the Chapter were Pakras Olak and Felipe Lazcano of the General Government. Patricia Villarroel, the Provincial of the Sisters, also attended the Chapter for a couple of days.
The two main topics discussed in the chapter were the spiritual renewal of the Brothers and the presence to the marginalized. The Chapter gave specific guidance to the spiritual life of the brothers and made a discernment that concluded with the decision to open a new community, in a new place, in a marginal area. This decision will result in the reorganization and reduction of apostolic presences in the Province.
The Chapter was very well prepared. The desire for communion and the apostolic renewal of religious life was very significant.
