Restoration of the SSCC Recoleta Church (Peru)

During the restoration of the SS.CC. Recoleta church in Lima, Peru, the remains of a 17th century chapel have been found. The remains of the chapel of "the drop of milk" (1606) were discovered one metre below ground: foundations of the structure, a series of tiles, crockery remains, buttons and coins. The chapel was part of the Dominican Recollect convent, where St. John Macias lived. In the 19th century the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts built a new church in the Plaza Francia, which is now the seat of the Recoleta parish.
