Retreat, Assembly and Presbyteral Ordination in Ecuador (Brs)

The brothers of the Vice Province of Ecuador met from March 6 to 9 in the retreat house of the diocese of Santo Domingo to have their annual retreat. Four postulants  were present who will belong to the future province (the province of Peru and the vice-provinces of Colombia and Ecuador.) Felipe F. Lazcano led the retreat. The basic theme was the consecration to the sscc through the profession of vows.

From late Thursday, March 9 through morning March 11, the brothers had an assembly to discuss various issues, including the process of preparation of the new province. It was also the opportunity to elect delegates from Ecuador who will participate in the founding chapter at the end of June 2017.

Finally, these days of prayer and fraternity culminated in the celebration of the presbyteral ordination of Luis Quishpe sscc on the afternoon of Friday the 10th. It took place in La Concordia, under the tent that currently serves as a parish temple. Recall that the church building  was destroyed by the April 2016 earthquake. Bishop of Santo Domingo, Bishop Bertram Wick, who with his closeness and familiarity encouraged Luis to live his priestly service and encouraged all to continue on in communion as the People of God.

The sscc brothers from Ecuador, a number of sscc sisters, priests from neighboring parishes and people from different Congregation places in Ecuador participated. The party continued with a dinner attended by about 300 people and was animated by the students of the school SSCC of La Concordia, where Luis has worked and will continue to do so, also sharing his time with the service in the parish.
