The annual provincial retreat took place in Tetelcingo, Morelos from 7-9th January. In a climate of silence and prayer the retreat was led by a Carmelite Missionary, Sr. María Esther Guillén, (MCST) under the motto "Let our inner life be shaped by the life of Jesus". There were four sections to her talks: 1. The inner life; 2. The inner life: identity and belonging; 3. Jesus - a man of interiority and communion; 4. The inner life, seeking peace and justice. We used the Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium as our inspiring document and it helped us to arrive at some concrete provincial conclusions and challenges.
The Provincial Assembly followed on directly from the retreat (10-11 Jan). We listened to the reports of the Provincial, the Youth Vocational Pastoral Commission and that of Casa San Damián. In addition, progress was made regarding the updating the Provincial Life Project and the Pastoral Plan, as well the implementation of new forms of provincial funding. The Spirituality Commission presented the Leadership Formation Plan 2019 a plan addressed to the lay people in our communities.
The week ended with the Eucharist during which José Rosemberg Pérez Ruiz made his profession of temporary vows, Edgar Pacheco Bárcenas renewed his vows and José Rodrigo Alcántara Serrano received the ministries of acolyte and and lector. After the Eucharist there was a simple celebration at which some guests attended.
