Retreat of the Province of Mexico (Brs.)

The brothers of the province of Mexico gathered at the San José retreat house in Tetelcingo from 9 to 12 January to participate in the provincial winter retreat.  The retreat director was Mgr. Carlos Enrique Samaniego, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Mexico and vicar for religious life.

Bishop Carlos invited the brothers to have an experience of personal and intimate encounter with God through a prayerful reading of the Word, giving priority to silence, adoration and sharing, in order to confront their true selves, values, feelings, attitudes and behaviour.

Through each reflection, the bishop led the brothers by the hand towards the theme of synodality. He underlined the importance of questioning one's own way of life and that in the matter of synodality, we all have to perceive ourselves as novices. He added that it is necessary to continue working with brothers, sisters and laity, to obtain a overall view, one that is sympathetic, compassionate, harmonious, synchronised leading to a veritable symphony. Inspired by Pope Francis, he urged the brothers not to lose the charm of meeting, dreaming and walking together.
