Saint Damien in family catechesis

Alberto Para, a priest of the archdiocese of Barcelona, and Fernando Cordero sscc have co-written a book on prayer for use in the family. This work, published by PPC, is intended for catechetical purposes and therefore offers numerous avenues for reflection, dynamics and activities adapted to different age groups. Francesc Conesa, bishop of Solsona and president of the Interdiocesan Secretariat of Catechesis (SIC) of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, stresses "that the proposal to read it and work on it as a family is an added value, because the family is the best place to understand the prayer that Jesus taught us".

The different parts of the Lord's Prayer are related to an aspect of the life of particular saints. Thus Teresa of Jesus, John Bosco, Augustine of Hippo, Oscar Romero, Damien of Molokai, Michael Febres, Peter Nolasco, John Paul II, Carmen del Niño Jesus and Josephine Bakhita are mentioned. With Father Damien we worked on the fifth encounter proposed in the book: "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven".

Each of the parts of the Our Father, conceived as a chapter, consists of the following: an initial family meeting, a specific proposal for each age group (which can also be easily downloaded using QR codes), a family activity (some of which are quite surprising and are sure to provide a precious moment of sharing), a word of advice or commitment and a final prayer-celebration.
