From December 3 to 4, 2025, Jean Blaise Mwanda participated in various activities of this project that took place in Rome. December 3 was dedicated to reflections on the pilgrims of hope in South Sudan: an inter-congregational collaboration at the Jesuits’ General House. Some topics addressed included: the grace of communion: the UISG-USG and the power of shared commitment; Pilgrims of hope: building bridges between congregations and cultures; and the missionary approach to development as a holistic, long-term, and inter-congregational model.
On December 4, the annual general assembly took place at the General House of the Brothers of La Salle. This included presentations of activity reports on education, health, agriculture, and pastoral care; finances, testimonies, and the election of new members of the coordination team.
This project was born thanks to the discernment of the Union of Superiors and General Superiors, and other institutions in 2008. It is a project of communion and unity, collaboration, and bridge-building for the mission in this war-torn country. Today, it has 139 staff members, including 25 religious (11 sisters and 14 brothers and priests) from 10 different nationalities and 114 laypeople.
In a world going through hard and dark times, collaboration between men and women from different congregations and other institutions can be a prophetic and hopeful sign.
