It has been a tradition since many years for the SSCC two Generalate
communities in Rome to have some family moments together every year, especially around the commemoration date of our founders vows.
This year it began with a Eucharistic celebration in the late evening of Christmas eve at Via Rivarone 85, when our Congregation turned 213 years old. Eight sisters and eleven brothers renewed the three vows following a homily given by Javier. The evening was wrapped up with supper and the singing of multilingual
Christmas carols, including Tamil, Lingala, Bahasa, and Hawaiian Pidgin.
On Christmas day, after attending the Pope’s Urbi et Orbi at the Vatican, all of us gathered again at Via Aurelia 145 for Christmas meal. But the family moments did not finish there, because on St.Stephen’s Day the group had an outing to the town of Greccio, where in the year 1223 Saint Francis initiated a living crib away from Bethlehem. The sanctuary has been maintained by the Franciscans until today.
