Bula ! And so, the legacy of the Picpus community continues in the South Pacific where missionary work commenced back in the 1830's. With the establishment of the Picpus formation community at the Pacific Regional Seminary (PRS) in Suva, Fiji, Picpus has added yet another presence in Oceania, where it has a long and eventful history in the annals of church lore.
Seven seminarians, four from the United States, 2 from Tonga, and 1 from Futuna have come to Fiji for their seminary training. They are present-day pioneers, reminding us of Picpus missionaries of the past in Oceania. Their resolve, courage and faith is an example to all of us that the heart of a true missionary lies wholly with God and God's call.
The ministry of Picpus has been present throughout Oceania in the Sandwich Islands, Cook Islands, Gambier Islands, Marquesas Islands and French Polynesia. We have even had some SS.CC. in Fiji in the past on the faculty at the Regional Seminary.
So, it is with humility and zeal that the Picpus community continues its mission in Oceania and continues its presence as spreaders of God's love in the world. Vinaka vaka-levu !
