SSCC Secular Branch (England) - Ceremony of Commitment

On Saturday the 10th October, members of the Secular Branch in England celebrated their ceremony of Commitment to the Secular Branch.  Due to the situation with the current pandemic, the ceremony was carried out via Zoom.  The members were supported in making their commitment by a number of SB members from Ireland as well as  a number of brothers and sisters of the Congregation from Ireland and England.  Fr. Derek Laverty, ss.cc. also joined in from the Generalate in Rome.

The morning started with a presentation from Fr. Mike Ruddy ss.cc., Provincial, followed by a time of sharing and prayer.  Following a short break, the gathering then resumed with a period of Adoration hosted by the Acton Community, Fr. Fergal Maguire, Fr. Pearce Mullen and Fr. Fintan Crotty.  It was during this time of prayer that the ceremony of Commitment took place.

One new member, Isidore Mahona, originally from South Africa and now living in Bedford, made his first year commitment.  He was joined by 20 existing members making a further 3 year commitment.  A number of these members made their first commitment to the Secular Branch in 2000 and therefore this celebration marked their 20th year as Secular Branch members.
