The challenges of religious vows in Africa

The brothers in the 4th stage of the Africa Province have a monthly training session on a different theme. This time, it was: The Challenges of Religious Vows in Africa (Case of the D.R. Congo). The theme was led by Sister Joséphine Mbembe, a Theresian from Kinshasa.

The values of religious life, particularly the evangelical counsels, must meet and adapt to the cultural values of each people through a process of inculturation. Unfortunately, in some contexts like ours today, this process faces difficulties, which we refer to here as challenges. As a remedy, Obedience should be understood as Listening, Poverty as Sharing and Trust in God's Providence, and Chastity as Universal Love for God and Humanity. By acting in this way, we will concretely reflect Christ through a tangible witness in the Community and everywhere.
