On Sunday, 13th May, Derek Laverty - who is visiting Chile - attended the Schoenstatt Retreat Centre, Santiago to join in the closing mass of a weekend retreat that had taken place there. Taking part in the weekend retreat were over 100 young people were were drawn from from most, if not all, the SSCC parishes in Chile. Their ages ranged from 15-18 yrs old. The SSCC youth pastoral ministry offers young people a three year programme that includes two retreats each year (May and September). A total of 15 helpers formed the retreat team, including 5 sscc brothers and 3 SSCC sisters.
The mass was electric and participation full! A credit to the SSCC brothers and sisters who, over the years, have rendered this important service to young people.
