The ICPA Award for the best reportage on Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes: Sujata Jena sscc

Dear Sisters, Greetings!

I would like to share a happy news with you all.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) through its media wing-Indian Catholic Press Association (ICPA) has selected me for this year's ICPA Award for the best reporting on Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Socially-economically background community), SC- ST and to be the voice of people’s rights, especially the poor Dalits who are more susceptible to exploitation and injustice.

I have attached herewith the official communication I received from Fr. Suresh Mathew, the secretary-general of ICPA.

I thank Jesus of Nazareth who liberates me and gives me strength to stand with the marginalized and be their voice.

I am not sure if I am worthy of such a prestigious award. All I tried was to raise up the struggles and aspirations of my people. I sincerely appreciate the ICPA for their work for the humanity and especially to the Dalits and tribals.

I dedicate this recognition to my Dalits, poor, marginalized brothers and sisters who are victims of structural injustice and every calamity be it man made or the result of the Fury of the nature.

I am grateful to the congregation for giving me every opportunity to be a true child of the Sacred Hearts. Thank you for journeying with me, inspiring, encouraging and strengthening me.

All honour and glory to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary!

With love and prayers

Sujata
