Triple celebration for Angelo Marcandella (Brs)

On Saturday, 7th September, 2019, a triple celebration for Angelo Marcandella sscc took place in the parish of San Antonio de Padua (Diocese of Piacenza, north of Italy).  Angelo celebrated a thanksgiving Mass for his 70 years of religious life, 65 years of priestly ordination and 45 years as parish priest of a parish that is composed of the churches of San Antonio de Padua and San Lorenzo.  In his homily, Angelo highlighted how the condition to follow Jesus is to carry the cross.  Moreover, to follow the teachings of Jesus means living a life counter to that of society.  Placing money above everything else is not Christian.  Loving each other is a way of assuming the cross.

Alberto Toutin, the Superior General and Jean Blaise Mwanda concelebrated at the Mass, along with two other diocesan priests from the pastoral area.  At the end of the homily, Angelo renewed his vows in the hands of the Superior General in the presence of the parish community.

After the Mass, there was a fraternal meal offered in the parish hall, accompanied by traditional songs associated with the mountaineers of Lugano.
