Last October the Sacred Hearts Secular Branch Conference was held in Corona, California, at Corpus Christi Parish, under the theme "The Need for Readiness for Healing and Change".
The meeting began with the registration of the participants, as in most ecclesial conferences, but from then on, everything took on a special tone. With the participants already gathered, the Rosary of the Flame of Love was prayed, a devotion that includes in each Hail Mary the invocation: "pour out the gracious effect of your Flame of Love on all humanity".
Michael Barry, sscc, shared a teaching full of spirituality and humour, reminding us that "God is always moving forward, and so must we, without letting our sins hold us back".
The keynote speaker was Vickie Leigh Smith, founder of Upper Room Ministries, who gave two talks - before and after lunch - that captivated the more than 200 attendees. With enthusiasm and depth, Vickie invited those present to think not of the natural world, but of the supernatural, proclaiming phrases of faith such as "Lord, send your word so that it does not return void" and highlighting the power of the word spoken in Jesus' name.
During the day there were moments of intense prayer, and several testimonies of healing and deliverance strengthened the faith of those present.
The day concluded with a time of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, crowning a day of deep spirituality, encounter and inner renewal.
