From 4-6 March, Alberto Toutin and Fernando Cordero visited the sscc community of Huaripampa, in the Province of Jauja,Peru. In this area and in the neighboring towns, 3350 meters above sea level, our brothers serve in the Parish of San Miguel Arcángel, which consists of 17 chapels.
They also collaborate with two communities of religious who are parish priests in Llocllapampa (Missionary Daughters of the Heart of Jesus) and in Sincos (Missionary Daughters of Santa María). Alberto and Fernando held a meeting with the laity of the parish and visited the religious, as well as several chapels in the local area.
The Parish of San Miguel Arcángel has a “defender of human rights” to deal with cases of domestic violence, abuse, separation and alimony. An active youth, social and artistic pastoral ministry is also in place.
Noteworthy was a meeting and subsequent meal in the sscc community with Cardinal Pedro Barreto, archbishop of Huancayo, with whom they were able to talk about the Amazonian Synod and the reform of the Church. The cardinal expressed his thanks for the presence of the Congregation in the archdiocese, which has brought tranquility and peace to the area and also he expressed his gratitude for the special contribution of Hermann Wendling, episcopal vicar.
