Visit to London (Brs)

Jean Blaise Mwanda and Fernando Cordero have been visiting the brothers in London. In addition to participating in the Eucharist in the Parishes of Our Lady of Lourdes and Saint Aidan, they met with members of the Secular Branch and, above all, with the brothers who live in London, including our brother Bishop Pat Lynch.

In the afternoon of October 19, thanks to Fergal Maguire they visited the “Heathrow Immigration Removal Center” (a prison for the deportation of immigrants), where Fergal is chaplain. After a Covid test and amid strong security measures, they were able to visit the two large pavilions that house 2,000 inmates from the most varied origins in the world. Pastoral service is performed by various chaplains of various religions (Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Coptic, Catholic, Anglican, etc.). They were able to dialogue with inmates from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Romania, Poland, among others.

For the visitors this has been a special moment of encounter with a reality that responds to the situation of those who suffer the most in our world. Fergal's closeness and good work is a drop of hope and joy in the midst of this environment, which is even more closed due to the strict measures of the Covid-19.
