On Monday, 20 March, Alberto and Jean Blaise visited the Archbishop of Medan, Mgr. Kornelius Sipayung, OFM. The Archbishop thanked the Congregation for its presence in the diocese and for the good collaboration they have with our brothers. The Superior General thanked him for the welcome and the confidence in the congregation. Some of the topics discussed were: Challenges of the diocese of Medan (formation of Christians and formation of parish priests and vicars of the diocese), preparation of the laity (Basic Ecclesial Community), learning the 4 local languages of the diocese, there are 66 parishes in the diocese. Given the enlargement of the city, there is a need to open 5 new parishes; Synodal process in the diocese is going well. There is an increase in the number of Catholics but they have no knowledge of the church. The diocese has taken up one of the sub-themes of synodality each pastoral year. This year it is working on communion and youth. Regarding ecumenism, there is a committee with Muslims and Buddhists, that is enjoying very good relationships.
There is a very good collaboration between the archdiocese and the congregation. Our brother Lukas Taruna Boy Sitepu is the bursar of the archdiocese.
