On the evening of Monday, 18th January 18, the Superior General, Alberto Toutin, presided over the opening Eucharist of the XI Chapter of the Province of Brazil and the Region of Paraguay. In the first session of the same afternoon, Sérgio Stein, Provincial Superior, welcomed everyone, highlighting the value of the presence of the General Government especially considering the challenges of the current times. There was a real risk of border closure, as in fact occurred after the arrival of Father Alberto in Brazil. The Regional Superior, Ángel Armoa, and the Paraguayan delegate, Armín Pérez, have not yet arrived. They are facing migration problems. The Chapter is expected to run until next Saturday. The election of the new government is also scheduled.
