Assembly of the Dutch Delegation (Brs)

On Tuesday 10, October, one of the two assemblies, celebrated annually by the brothers of the Delegation of the Netherlands, took place. There were twelve brothers who came together in the community of Teteringen. Some were unable to participate for health reasons, some had conflicts with other activities, or live outside the country. Recall that the Delegation currently has 18 members (2 live in Lisbon, and one lives in the Cook Islands).

On this occasion, the Provincial of Flanders, Gilbert De Decker, who brought Rogier van Rossum from Leuven, because in Belgium there was a transport strike. As on other occasions Felipe F. Lazcano participated for the General Government.  As is usual at these meetings, the lay bursar Alex Aarts was present and so too was Anne-Margriet Janssens, who is responsible for caring for the brothers in the community of Teteringen.

As the first point on the agenda, following the initial greetings, Rogier van Rossum offered some reflections on the book Constitutions SSCC 1817-2017. His presentation elicited various comments.  The Brothers then approved the list of donations that the Delegation makes to various initiatives of the Congregation and other institutions. With a few and varied news items, the session was concluded and the community celebrated the Eucharist.  Jan Munster the Superior of the Delegation presided and he thanked God for the 65 years of the religious life of Brother Martien Smeets and the 60 years of Brother Jan Heuts (now a member of the Province of Indonesia).
