† Sr. Rosaura GALÁN sscc (Ecuador)

Joy and fervor always go together” (G.M.)

Guadalupe GALAN Abril, in religion Rosaura, went to her eternal home on July 20th 2007. She was born in Nuti, a Province of Azuay, Ecuador on July 2nd, 1919. She entered the Congregation in the city of Cuenca on April 10th, 1940. She spent her novitiate and made temporary vows in Rumipamba and her final profession on April 30th, 1946.

She belonged to a profoundly religious family who gave several of its members to the Church. Three of her cousins were members of the Congregation, one in Cuenca and two in Colombia, one of whom has since dead.

Our sister Rosaura was part of the Rumipamba, Guayaquil, Salinas, Cuenca and las Misiones de Santo Domingo communities. En Cuenca she looked after the boarders who loved her gentle and kind temperament.

In spite of poor health, she was a selfless missionary and enjoyed visiting families and attending those who came to her, above all she enjoyed being with children whom she loved dearly.

She became part of the San José community in 2003 because of her ill health. Here, she spent long hours before the Blessed Sacrament as she was a fervent adorer and each time she could say: “I am praying for you”. When her health deteriorated, she had difficulty in recognizing people, and when she managed to recognize a sister her kind smile was encouraging and comforting.

Rosaurita, you have gone before us, pray to the Sacred Hearts for each one of us, your sisters, that we will be given the grace to give our lives with joyful generosity, not counting the cost.

Thanks for the example of your simple, humble life and forgive us if we failed you in any way.

May the Lord bestow on you the reward of the just.

We ask you to offer the prayers prescribed in our Constitutions in spite of the fact that we are sure that she is already enjoying eternal bliss in the arms of God our Father whom she loved so much.
