Fr. Albert Miechielsen sscc, 90 years old, died on January 15, 2010 in Honolulu (Hawaii). He entered the noviciate in 1940 and he was professed on July 31, 1941. He was ordained a priest in Zandhoven (Belgium) on July 28, 1946.

OBITUARY
REVEREND ALBERT JAAK JAN MIECHIELSEN
Roman Catholic Religious Priest of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Hawaii died January 15, 2010 at St. Patrick Monastery, Honolulu, Hawaii. Born in Merksplas, Belgium, Father Albert was 90 years of age at the time of his death. He was a member of the Sacred Hearts Congregation for 68 years. He was ordained 63 years ago in Zandhoven, Belgium.
After his ordination, Father was sent to Zaire, Africa where he spent the first 15 years of his priesthood. After being kidnapped by a Congolese secessionist group and liberated by United Nation forces, Father was sent to Hawaii where he dedicated himself for 47 years as Assistant Pastor and Pastor of various churches and Chaplain to the Sacred Hearts Sisters at Regina Pacis Convent in Kaimuki.
Funeral services will be held at St. Patrick Church, 1124 7th Avenue, on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, with visitation at 5:30 PM followed by Mass at 7:00 PM. Burial will take place on Wednesday morning, January 27, at the Valley of the Temple Cemetery, at 9:00 AM.
Besides the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts, Father Albert is survived by nieces and nephews in Belgium.
Instead of flowers, the Congregation ask that all donations be made to the Sacred Hearts Retirement Fund, P. O. Box 1365, Kaneohe, Hawaii 96744.
