In gratitude we commemorate the life of
Father Harry Spee ss.cc.
Harry (Hendrikus, Mary Lambert) was born in Drunen on February 8, 1930. On September 24, 1950, he joined the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts in New Ginneken. Ordination followed on 4 September 1955 in Valkenburg.
Harry was happy to go to the mission, but when he was commissioned to study moral and pastoral theology in Rome, he worked on this assignment with heart and soul. He graduated with honors. Then he focused mainly on teaching; first within his own congregation, then with an association of congregations, the Diocese and some Schools of Theology and Pastoral Care.
In the ongoing search for a Christian moral life Harry engaged in the parish, service to fellow human beings, especially the poor. He always encouraged his students to do the same.
Besides teaching, he made time for pastoral care in St.Nicholas Parish in Valkenburg, for all sorts of functions in the society of Limburg, for study and consultation with colleagues, and for administrative functions within the congregation.
In recent years, as far as his health permitted, he performed various activities in the community around the memorial of Father Damien in Leuven. After a full life of hard work and a long period of illness Harry died in Leuven on 12 September 2013.
The funeral service will be held on September 18 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Zorgcentrum Zuiderhout, Arnold Janssen Avenue 46 to Tete. After the service you can have coffee in the community hall 'The Biënkorf.
Burial will follow in the cemetery of the congregation at Zuylen, Garden View Avenue 11, Breda. There will also be an opportunity to offer condolences.
