He was ordained a priest in Broeckhem (Nederland) on October 1, 1950.
In gratitude we remember the life of
Pater Henk Vermeulen ss.cc.
Henk (Henricus Josephus Christianus) was born March 20, 1926 in Amsterdam. On 25 September 1945 he joined the Congregation of the Fathers of the Sacred Hearts in New Ginneken. On October 16, 1950 was ordained priest in Broekhem.
After completing his studies in Valkenburg, Henk went for two years to Nuland. In July 1953 he received his appointment for Brazil. On November 4, 1953, he left for his destination. He has worked there 54 years. His first place was Sao Bonifacio, to help in the minor seminary. Then he began to be what he was for the rest of his life: the Father of the 'little people'. The work of Henk became increasingly present among the simple people. Therein lay his strength. He could speak their language, he could listen to them, he was their 'father'.
In 2007 he returned to the Netherlands. Also, there was still a task for him. The community of Bavel, and later of Teteringen, was enriched with the help he gave to the brothers. Henk recognized the man in need. He still has much work done.
Henk unexpected departed from us on April 4, 2013, in peace, in Teteringen. Now he can see the good God and be forever happy.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Zorgcentrum Zuiderhout (Arnold Janssen Avenue, 46 in Teteringen). After that he will buried in the cemetery of the Congregation, in Zuylen, Breda.
