New Ireland/England delegation (Brs)

From 5 - 8 June, 2022, the Provincial Chapter of Ireland/England was held in the Northbrook community in Ireland. Twelve brothers participated in an atmosphere of prayer, simple fraternity and a family spirit. The Superior General, Alberto Toutin, accompanied the assembly. During the chapter, Ireland/England ceased to be a province and became a Delegation. Its new statutes were approved, as well as some guidelines for its mission and vision. The new government of the delegation was elected: Michael Ruddy as superior and Chris McAneny and Vincent Fallon as councillors.

On the day of the retreat, Alberto recalled how "leaving", "leaving to become" whatever the Lord wants this community to be and do, being available for his action, is part of the DNA of religious life. He also invited the Delegation to savor the rich and unpredictable paths of encounters along which the Lord has led each brother and the community up to this present day. Finally, he encouraged them to discover their sscc mission today by asking the Lord: Where do you want us to collaborate in your work?

To answer this question, the contribution of each brother counts. It is also important to be aware that they are walking together with the sscc sisters and lay people present in this area, the local churches and associations, the congregation as an international family. Moreover, the Delegation has the support and accompaniment of the General Government.

On the final day there was a celebration for the brothers who are celebrating their golden jubilee of priesthood this year: Eamon Aylward, Peadar Cronin and Chris McAneny. And they also remembered with gratitude the SSCC sisters, brothers, members of the secular branch and friends and family who could not be with them or who are already with the Lord and who support the mission of the congregation in this area with their prayers.
