The SSCC Brothers Enlarged General Council that will last for 8 days has just begun this evening. It is made up of members of the General Government and the Major Superiors (Provincials and Vice-Provincials). This time the participants are composed of 21 members: the Superior General, 4 General Councilors, 14 Provincials Superior, and 2 Vice-provincials Superior.
Statute 88 tells us that “The Enlarged General Council will meet at least once between two General Chapters, to promote communion among the major Communities and their co-responsibility with the General Government.” The General Government (GG) desires more than one EGC between General Chapters on a rhythm of every two years: in 2014 and in 2016.
The themes to be treated at the EGC are centered fundamentally around the application of the decisions of the 38th General Chapter (GC) of 2012. The preparation of the next GC will be the subject of the next EGC.
