MEETING OF FORMATORS OF LATIN AMERICA
The formators from the formation houses of Latin America met in Chile from the 19th to the 31st of May. The meeting took place at “Father Damien” house in Macul, Santiago de Chile. There were 16 participants in the meeting. General Councilor, Pankras Olak, attended the meeting as he is studying Spanish in Chile.
The first day of the meeting was led by the Executive Team who presented the general guidelines and a motivation for the work. It stressed that the purpose of the meeting was to "to reflect, in greater depth, on our postulant communities and on the formation of formators for their service."
In the following days, we were joined by Enrique Ramirez ss.cc. and Guadalupe Martinez, a Mexican psychologist. They gave a presentation on the theme of psycho-spiritual training of people. Patricia Villarroel ss.cc. presented a pedagogical approach to the subject of “self-formation”. Also present were Carlos Correa (a lay man in charge of the website of the Church in Chile) and Sergio Silva ss.cc. who talked about the use of new technologies in formation houses. Eduardo Perez-Cotapos, ss.cc. spoke to us about initiation into Christian life and Religious Life in the pre-novitiate. Alex Vigueras, ss.cc. reflected with us on the common practice of working in Initial Formation. On Saturday we were joined by psychologist Rodolfo Nuñez who spoke to us about affectivity and sexuality.
The second week we met with David de la Torre, ss.cc. Initial Formation Coordinator for CIAL, to talk about changing the location of the Latin American novitiate and preparing for the meeting with the Provincial, Vice-provincial and regional superiors of AL.
Each day we gathered to thank the Lord for this meeting with Morning Prayer and we ended the day with the Eucharist.
MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE OF CIAL (Latin America)
The Executive Committee of CIAL also met in Santiago de Chile, at the same house of Macul, on May 29th and 30th. The Executive Committee is made up of the four Provincial Superiors, the two Vice-provincial Superiors, and a regional superior. Two members of the General Government, Javier and Pankras, also joined them.
The first morning was devoted to meeting with the formators. In the afternoon, the Superior General presented the superiors with some issues of interest from the General Government.
The second day, the superiors shared their respective experiences in the exercise of their service. They dealt with the issues of the Conference organization, preparing for the 2014 CIAL meeting and changing the place of the common novitiate.
