Various social activities at St. Odile Parish (Indonesia)

On Saturday, 25 February, Alberto and Jean Blaise participated in various social promotion activities of the parish of St. Odile. They started with an experience of interreligious harmony between the different leaders of the various faith groups,  (Islam, Catholics, Protestants, Buddhists, Hindus...).  They were also able to see the relations the parish has with the police, the military and the different members of the civil society. About fifty people participated in this event. They work together (synergy) to cultivate tolerance between religions and develop some activities in favour of the poor. The meeting place is the presbytery of the Catholic church, St. Odile parish, at the “harmony hut”.

After this the visitors went on to visit an Islamic school in the countryside, a site where habitable houses for the poor are being constructed.  They also visited a food security group based in the village, and the Islamic boarding school Daarul Fallahiyah Assalafiyah, in Tangerang Regency.  In the evening of the same day, they had a meeting with the youth of St. Odile Parish.

On Sunday, 26 February, Alberto and Jean Blaise concelebrated the parish mass of the 1st Sunday of Lent. The Eucharist was presided over by the Vicar Provincial, Lambert. Alberto gave the homily. After the mass, there was ann opening ceremony of the parish market to support micro, small and medium enterprises.

Straight after the meal, the visitors headed to Bandung. They were accompanied by Lambert.
