During the week-end February 21-23 took place the initial formation meeting of the sscc brothers and sisters of the provinces of Spain (sisters, including the novices from Africa) and Iberia (brothers). This meeting is held every year.
This one was dedicated to the theme of the "mystic”. Last year it was dedicated to the "prophecy". The sscc in initial formation reflected on the mystical dimension as followers of Jesus through biblical figures (Moses, Elijah and Ana) and historical figures (St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila and Madeleine Delbrêl)
The meeting, that took place at "The Casuca", in El Escorial, began on Friday with dinner, a general presentation and a time of prayer. On Saturday morning there was a talk by Juan Antonio Marcos (Discalced Carmelite and professor of spiritual theology at the Pontifical University of Comillas, Madrid), in which he talked about mysticism in general, and in a more practical way of the mystical experience in Saint John of the Cross (although many things of St. Teresa of Avila came also out). In the afternoon there was an excursion to Avila, to visit the Museum of the Mystic and the Monastery of the Incarnation (where Saint Teresa entered as a nun). After a good stroll to finish visiting Avila, the group went back home for dinner and had a time for adoration. The next day, Sunday, the reflection was focused on the figure of Madeleine Delbrêl, a mystic of the twentieth century who was so in her everyday life. After that there was a sharing in smalls groups. The meeting ended with the celebration, as sscc family, of the Eucharist, and of course, it could not be otherwise ...with food!!
