Perpetual Profession of Alexandria Martin, Kolkata, India

On November 23, feast of the Good Mother, our sister Alexandria Martin made her perpetual profession of vows at St. Mary's Parish, Kolkata, India.

The celebration was presided over by Ajith Kumar, ss.cc. regional of India, together with John Fernandez, Msfs, Alexia's brother, and Sudhir Nayak, ss.cc. Alexia was accompanied by Irene Barboza, ss.cc. Delegate Superior of the Pacific/USA - Asia Zone, Romeka Situmorang, Asia Territory Coordinator and the sisters and brothers from India, along with Patricia Villarroel, Superior General, and Aurora Laguarda. Of course, her family, her father Martin and her mother, Maríammal, her sisters Sangita and Jenifer, nieces, nephews and friends who came all the way from Tamil Nadu to share in Alexia's joy and happiness. She was also accompanied by the parish priest of St. Mary's, Fr. Soosai, and the principal of the College, Fr. Neethi, along with sisters and priests from other Congregations, diocesans, and parishioners of the parish who wanted to share this important moment in Alexia's life. It was the first time that a perpetual profession ss.cc. was celebrated in Kolkata.

The Eucharist began with a beautiful Sadri dance by our ss.cc. candidates and was enlivened with songs in different languages. The homily was centered on how to remain in the Love of God from our charism: Contemplate, Live and Proclaim the redemptive Love of God in our world.

The highlight was when Alexia pronounced her vows and committed herself forever to live as a Sister of the Sacred Hearts. At the end, in her thanksgiving, she made a journey through her life, thanking all the people and situations that helped her to grow and commit herself to the Congregation.

As on all festive occasions, at the end of the Eucharist, the celebration continued with an agape and a program of songs and dances that enlivened the evening.
