Saturday-March 2, the parishioners of St. Patrick Church in Kaimuki, Oahu, HI rejoiced as Bishop Larry Silva installed Fr. Lusius Nimu sscc (a Kamiano brother Knight) as their new pastor. Also in attendance was Bishop Ryan Jimenez of the Diocese of Chalen Kanoa, Saipan and many Sacred Hearts priests, deacons and nuns as well as a few priests representing the parishes in the East Honolulu Vicariate.
Bishop Larry exhorted the faithful to make straight paths noting that it is “crunch time” to make things right with our Lord. He acknowledged the joyful and pleasant nature of Fr. Lusius, but also noted that there may come a time when he would have to put his foot down to guide the people of St. Patrick in ways that are pleasing to God. In an emotional address to the assembly, Fr. Lusius thanked everyone for their support for him and expressed how he is looking forward to working with everyone in the days to come.
