On Tuesday 5 August, Sister Brigid Falahee celebrated 50 years of religious life in a lively and emotional congregational meeting. At 5 in the afternoon the celebration of the Eucharist began in the chapel of the Kamuning community, led by our brother Andrew Healey and participated by more than 40 sisters and brothers SSCC residents these days in the Philippines.
Beside the altar this sentence was read: “Blessed be God who knows and loves me just I am.” Readings chosen by Brigid for the occasion were the texts of Jeremiah 18 (God as a potter for the human being) and John 20 (the encounter of the risen Jesus with Mary Magdalene). The same Brigid took care to explain the meaning of these readings to her, giving thanks to God for this life received as a gift next to the Congregation. Following a lively party was shared.
Brigid, born in Ireland in 1946 and professed her first vows on 5 August 1964. In 1996 she came to the Philippines, where her main service was to serve as mistress of novices. In 2006 she was elected general counsel based in Rome, and completed this period has returned to the Philippines to serve as a formator of juniors and coordinator of Filipino communities SSCC Sisters.
