The Province celebrated the second part of the Provincial Chapter, October 5-6. After Peter Egenolf resigned from the Council, there was need of a substitute. Father Alfred Bell was elected and then the Provincial named Father Martin Königstein as his Vicar.
An important decision concerning Arnstein. The Chapter decided to return the Monastery of Arnstein to the diocese of Limburg at the end of 2018. The main reason is the personnel situation of the Province which does not permit us to continue such diversified work for the long haul (parish ministry, Youth Center, welcome center for visitors and pilgrims.)
During the coming three years the works will continue as normal. Presently the Province is reflecting where to put attention going forward. The decision to leave Arnstein was not taken without difficulty, but with a clear majority. Arnstein was the first house of the German Province and gave its name to the Congregation in German (“Arnstein Fathers”). The pilgrims created a pool of devoted friends who will attended to in the future.
