“Consecrated people are a sign of God in the different spheres of life; they are yeast for the growth of a more just and fraternal society; they are a prophetic witness to sharing with the little ones and the poor. Consecrated life understood and lived in that way presents itself to us as it really is: a gift from God, a gift of God to the church, a gift of God to his people. Every consecrated person is a gift for the people of God who are journeying”. (Pope Francis)
With the theme: “Consecrated life in the Church today: Gospel, Prophecy and Hope”, The Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life– CIVCSVA has announced the year dedicated to Consecrated life. The opening of this special time will take place on the 30th November with the celebration of the Eucharist in the Basilica of St Peters and will conclude on the 2nd February 2016 with the World Day on Consecrated Life. The event takes place within the context of the 50years of the Second Vatican Council and in particular with the 50 years since the publication of the conciliar decree “Perfectacaritatis” on the renewal of consecrated life.
The logo presented by the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life expresses through symbols the fundamental values of consecrated life. In it the continual work of the Holy Spirit is recognized, who throughout the centuries spreads the riches of the practice of the evangelical councils through many charisms and who also through this channel makes the mystery of Christ present in a perpetual way in the Church and in the world, in time and in space.
