The Sisters, Brothers and some Secular Branch Members of the Ireland-England Delegation met for their annual retreat/assembly (10th-13th June) at Dromantine in Northern Ireland, a retreat and conference centre run by the Society of African Missions (SMA.)
The retreat was led by Carol Barry, who spoke movingly about how our own Fr Flan Markham sscc (R.I.P.) was instrumental in encouraging and supporting her work as a teacher and then as a retreat director. Using many examples and symbols from daily life, Carol led the group into a rediscovery of God’s love, our own blessedness, our connection with each other and those we serve, with special reference to our own charism and the lives of our Founders. The final day saw the three branches meeting separately which was followed by a special Jubilee Mass and Lunch to celebrate Brigid Falahee’s 60th anniversary of Profession; Michael Ruddy’s 40th anniversary of Profession and Jerry White’s 60th Anniversary of Ordination.
