The assembly of the Iberian Province (brothers) that took place from 28th until 30th August in El Escorial (Madrid) has recently come to a close.
The brothers from Spain and Portugal have worked on two of the documents that came up from de second Provincial Chapter: The first one being the “Inspirational document”, which contextualizes all the decisions taken by the Chapter, and seeks to encourage and inspire the brother’s life during the next three years. The second one is the document about the marginalized, a concerned issue for this Province, willing to re-think its relation with those whom the Lord prefers, and to answer the appeal of the General Government.
This task has been undertaken with the help of two religious men from other Congregations who work with the marginalized people. Several sscc brothers spoke up and shared their experience. Need to be underlined also is the talk given by Felipe Lazcano on Father Damien: “An example that is never exhausted” and who is the icon chosen by the General Government to encourage our mission among the poor and our ministry of adoration.
Precisely, the celebrations and prayers have been very important during the Assembly. The event was highlighted by Marco Giordimaina’s renewal of vows, and the final Eucharist, during which the anniversaries of religious profession and priestly ordination were celebrated. A different form of celebration promoting the fraternity was the festive Friday evening that ended with an outdoor barbecue where the brothers enjoyed a free time to meet and communicate with each other.
So, with renewed strength after the assembly… we face another year!
