On Easter Monday, 17 April 2017, the two communities of SSCC General Houses decided to do something different this year: we had an SSCC family outing, but enlarged with the Brothers of Christian Instruction (FICP/Ploërmel), and two refugees who are staying with us, as well as one refugee who is staying with the Ploërmel brothers.
The destination of our trip was the Garden of Ninfa, located about 80 kilometers south of Rome, a place that has gained a reputation as the Most Romantic Garden in the World. It is located right where the ancient medieval ruins of the town of Ninfa used to be, a place where Pope Alexander III was crowned in 1159.
The garden covers an area of about 3 hectares, and has over a thousand different plants species, local and imported from different places around the world. The garden of Ninfa was designed according to the typical architecture of English gardens, with many small streams and river nymphs, hence the name of the garden.
After a two hour guided tour, the group headed for a nearby town of Cori known for its bread and wine, and concluded our outing with an authentic Italian food to celebrate Easter.
