On June 15, 2006, Father Eustaquio was beatified in Belo Horizonte, in a celebration held in a crowded "Estádio Mineirão". It was the 12th "Torcida de Deus". The Feast of Corpus Christi and the Beatification of Father Eustaquio was celebrated together. It was presided by the Archbishop of Belo Horizonte, Dom Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo. Cardinal Jose Saraiva Martins - prefect of the Vatican Congregation for the Causes of Saints - during the Eucharistic celebration, read on behalf of Benedict XVI's, the apostolic letter with which the Pope inscribed the servant of God, Father Eustaquio Van Lieshout sscc, in the Book of the Blessed.
The Eucharist was also concelebrated by Cardinal Dom Serafim Fernandez de Araújo, emeritus of the Archdiocese and great devotee of Father Eustaquio. Also concelebrated were 24 bishops and 500 priests, including Fr. Gonçalo Belém, 82, who when he was 39 was blessed with the approved miracle of Father Eustaquio: the healing of a cancerous tumor in the larynx.
