The brothers of the province of Mexico came together, May 2-5, to participate in their spring retreat. It was held in Tetelcingo, Morelos. Two presenters accompanied the brothers. Father José Jimenez Aguayo the episcopal vicar of the Diocese of Valle de Chalco and Father Francesco Martinez, OMI. Fr. José set out the theme: community life for mission starting out from Ecclesia in America and Evangelii Gaudium. Fr. Francesco helped by getting into the emerging themes in a deeper way for a community living as an apostolic family. Together they enabled us to revisit our community living and to propose new commitments.
On Thursday, May 5, the brothers prepared themselves for community Reconciliation. They made a pilgrimage to the community of San Pedro Coayuca. Going two by two, they meditated on the mercy of God and they entered the church, their voices raised in song. They participated in adoration and then celebrated the Eucharist. After a meal, they betook themselves to "La Vibra," a small community where they visited the sick and heard confessions. After a get together with the community, they returned to the retreat house.
The Provincial Assembly accomplished its task on Friday, May 6. The Assembly heard the reports of the Provincial and the Econome. Then the community shared on the theme, and possible agenda of the next General Chapter. The week was closed with the celebration of the Eucharist.
