Canonical visit to the Delegation of Flanders (Leuven)

The canonical visit to the Delegation of Flanders took place from 28 September to 8 October. The Superior General, Alberto Toutin and Jean Blaise Mwanda visited and spoke with the Delegation Council and with each brother.  During their visitation they visited the Tremelo Museum and the Damien Institute of Arshot and met with Cardinal De Kesel,  the staff of Damiaan Vandaag,  the ss.cc sisters and the Saint'Egidio community. Among the areas that were looked at were those of the inner life (how is our spiritual health?) and the two priorities that are contained within the Delegation's PARL: the material and spiritual quality of life of the brothers and the future of Damien's heritage (Church and Crypt) having in mind concrete initiatives undertaken in the perspective of Damien.

One of the strong points of this meeting was to encourage the brothers to enter into new ways of working in partnership and networking with other institutions who draw inspiration from Damien. In this way the material and spiritual heritage connected to Damien that is here in Leuven could be made more widely available.

The visitors were very grateful to the brothers for the preparation and organization of this visit and for the efforts that were made to use French. Everything took place in a climate of dialogue, trust and in a fraternal spirit.
