The Province of Japan-Philippines continues to support the Pastoral Experience Program of the Congregation, recognizing its significant role in broadening perspectives and reinforcing international relationship. Last September (2024), Marvick Damaso sscc, after his theological studies, was sent to Spain for a year-long pastoral immersion. He was assigned to the Parish of San Víctor in Madrid, where he lived in community with other brothers of the Congregation.
During his stay in the Iberian Province, Marvick engaged in various ministries. He gave catechism s at the parish on Sundays, worked at the school on Saturdays, accompanied children to the oratory at SSCC College during weekdays, and participated in “Calor y Café,” a parish-led volunteer initiative that provides meals to the homeless every Thursday. He also joined the province's "convivencias" (community gatherings), especially during the summer, visited different SSCC communities across Spain, and took part in spiritual exercises.
These are just some of the many meaningful activities Marvick experienced during his pastoral year. We express our deep gratitude to the Iberica Province for their wholehearted support both spiritual and pastoral throughout his stay.
Now back in the Philippines, Marvick continues his preparation for his final vows. In his sharing, he emphasized how precious his experience in Spain was, both in spiritual and pastoral. He expressed a deep appreciation for the mission of the Iberian Province, particularly their programs for the youth.
Reflecting on his journey, he said:
“I encountered Jesus not only at the table of the Eucharist, but also in the faces of the youth, the homeless, and the people I met along the way. God led me to a place where grace overflows, faith uplifts, and love is made visible through action.”
